About the event

The Voice of Community is providing a platform for everyone in the Black community. Your unfiltered voices will be shared and the rest of our city will hear what you have to say- this time, you are going to dictate your own story. Your narratives will be cherished, your opinions valued, and your perspectives heard.

The Call Out is one part of an initiative being launched that is integral to being completely for us and by us; we are uplifting the black community as a whole.

For generations, the Black community has longed for our people to connect. We have especially desired for our men to express themselves, be vulnerable through allowing themselves to be supported. In our community, we find that men often go without unloading their burdens, or communicating their emotions to their loved ones in times of need, due to an underlying fear of being judged as weak. Our friends, our brothers, our husbands and even our fathers, have suffered in silence for too long.  Our community yearns to hear their voices, and so we have created a network for all of us to connect to one another in a safe space. In launching our network - The Voice of Community, we have created a platform to do exactly that.

To uplift our community, we must first start by uplifting our people, and providing them with the tools necessary to succeed. We want all men, women, and children who are willing to share their voices, whether publicly or anonymously. In creating a safe space to be heard in whatever capacity they choose, emotionally connect, vent, and be supported. We enable the voices of those belonging to our community to be heard as a way to empower our society as a whole.

At this event, you will have the option to kick back and chill with others in your community - to talk shit or talk truth. You will also have the option to participate in an individual interview, where you can opt to share your voice publicly or anonymously. Whether you choose to promote your business, address a challenge in the city, or just talk your truth, the choices is yours.

Those who come out will be given the option to be selected as potential hosts or featured guests for future episodes in our series. This event is open to members from the Black community ages 12 and over in the Greater Toronto Area. Priority reservations will be given to males. No dress code or additional preparation is necessary - come as you are, and bring your most authentic self.
